Homeva is a company you can trust.
Hello, my name is David Diaz, founder of Homeva. I’m originally from Bogota, Colombia. I worked at Apple, where I spent 5.5 years there. This is where I learned the business and a deeper love for technology. I started as a specialist selling iPhone cases and worked myself through corporate working for managers close to Steve Jobs/Tim Cook in business development.
After leaving Apple, I wanted to do something where I could have a bigger impact on people. Around the same time, I had started a family, moving into a new home with my wife and a 6-month-old baby. During this time, I was concerned about the security of our new home but also wanted to make our lives easier.
This was when the light bulb went off, and I started testing all the most recent devices that were coming out on the market. Some smart home products did not work very well, so I concentrated on working with devices that were reliable, easy to use, and that worked together.
My first smart home project
One of my first systems helped me when my son would start crying in the middle of the night, and all I had to do was open my door after 11 pm, and a sensor would trigger all the lights to go to the kitchen at 20% so my wife could get some rest. Then I would warm up his milk and put our son back to sleep. When I returned to my bed, a sensor would trigger all the lights off after 5 minutes.
A few months later, Homeva was born. I saw the potential that we could create to help people feel safer at home while making everything more convenient. That was a game-changer!
